Thanks, Blair. The algorithm used to determine location is not exact– it’s proximity-based, and the center of Newfoundland was determined to be in the chunk to the north. Regardless, in this particular example, it causes a relatively egregious error, so I removed St Pierre and made both the southern chunks and northern chunks point to Newfoundland.

Phil– thanks. I added Wales and Northern Ireland. Wales is beautiful– there’s a nice pic of Stonehenge there! I’ll have to put it on my list of places in the world I’d like to visit.

Or– thanks for the comment. It certainly was not deliberate, and I’m not looking to make a political statement. Israel did exist as a clickable item a bit to the south of “Palestinian Territory”, but the granularity of the borders is not excellent; it simplifies countries to single coordinates, which makes some of them hard to click on in a world map.

I just added a second coordinate to represent Israel to the north so that it models Israel slightly better, and should be easier to click on. It is still possible to click on “Palestinian Territory”; right now, that coordinate is somewhere in the middle of the West Bank. I know that territory is disputed, but I think it’s worth keeping there for educational purposes.

    Hello,

I am currently doing a University Project about the Mashup Market. Because I love your Mashup “Earthalbum.com” a lot and it seems that you have a great knowledge in this sector, I was wondering if I could ask you some questions about Mashups?

    - How long does it normally take to build a Mashup? Is there normally more than one person involved in a project?

    - Is it possible to live from Mashups or is it more like a hobby? Can you make money with Mashups in general?

    - What do you think are the future trends in the Mashups market?

It would be great for our project to get an insider opinion and I already appreciate your help in advance!

    Thanks a lot

    Dear EarthAlbum,

When clicking on Timor-leste (East Timor) it only shows pictures of Indonesia. East Timor gianed independence from Indonesia in 2002. Can you fix this ?

    Thanks
    Nick

Nice visibility on material in this site — but could you please add to the feed when photos are enlarged two more bits of information: the name of the Flickr account and the “all rights reserved”/CC license status? Mine appear only because I include that in my photo descriptions. By having all-rights-reserved medium-sized images visible without that information also visible on an ad-supported page, you’re going to end up with a lot of angry Flickr users who’ve gotten here, like me, by following the referrals in their account Stats. (Alternatively, restrict it to CC-Commercial licenses, though those have their own attribution requirements.)

when i look at my town (Chassell) in Upper Michigan, it says i’m in Wisconsin, which is 100 miles away.

I was looking forward to looking through your pictures until I realized the person running the site has no idea how to distinguish countries in South America. I’m offended that practically every picture from Uruguay is listed as Buenos Aires, which if you knew anything about geography would realize that it is in Argentina, a completely different country. As a daughter of Uruguayans, I am offended as this is a reflection of your ignorance thinking every South Amercan country is the same as the next.

How can I add pics of my home town to the earthalbum?
